Self Hypnosis: Overcoming Anxiety

 

Anxiety exists in a number of different forms, ranging from general anxiety right through to social anxiety.

The thing that most forms of anxiety have in common is that they cause the sufferer to experience one or more unwanted physical sensations such as shortness of breath, sweating, nausea and chest pains as well as emotional vices such as fear, worry or nervousness. Of course this list isn't extensive, but they're some of the more common things that anxiety sufferers experience.

Self hypnosis can be used to not only manage, but actually overcome all forms of anxiety if applied correctly. Where conventional medicine attempts to "treat" anxiety through the use of depressants, hypnosis instead tries to cure the problem altogether by changing the fundamental way the subconscious mind thinks and interprets the world.

Anxiety is full of a number of triggers, triggers that cause a person to experience anxiety in certain situations. A trigger may consist of entering into a crowded room, a public place, delivering a speech, or meeting someone new. These triggers are different from person to person and may vary considerably.

Triggers operate from the subconscious level. Whenever we experience anxiety, it is because our subconscious is telling us to be fearful or anxious about a certain situation. This stems right down to the subconscious "Fight or Flight" mechanism of our brain, which is triggered each time we experience anxiety.

Self hypnosis works by allowing us to communicate with our subconscious and alter our fundamental thought processes. We can tell our subconscious to no longer associate certain situations with anxiety. We can effectively eliminate anxiety triggers altogether.
