Once someone has been induced into a trance, we are able to manipulate their subconscious.
The thing to understand with all forms of hypnosis, including covert hypnosis, is that we can only make a person do something that they're subconsciously willing to do. We cannot command someone to do something that is outside of their usual moral or ethical boundries. Understanding this concept is very important.
When someone is in a trance, their critical judgement is greatly impaired. This means that their subconscious mind is highly vulnerable to persuassion. Whilst a person may not normally perform a certain task, we can coerse their subconscious into performing that task using a technique known as indirect suggestion.
Indirect suggestions work by bypassing the conscious mind of the individual we're speaking to. The suggestion is instead interpreted by the subconscious of the individual. We must be able to plant the suggestion in a sentence in such a way that the person will have no conscious awareness that the've been given a suggestion.
If a person is in a state of trance and we give them an indirect suggestion that is interpreted by their subconscious, then we have effectively bypassed that person's critical mind, and they should act upon the suggestion given. When acting upon the suggestion, the person should not be aware of their actions, since they are acting upon the suggestion from the subconscious level as opposed to the conscious level. It is not unusual for a person to be completely unaware that they've been hypnotised.
Understanding how to encode indirect suggestions is all part of the art of covert hypnosis, and requires training from a proper covert hypnosis course, followed by lots of practice in order to master.
