A person addicted to smoking cigarettes may have a desire to smoke a cigarette every time they think of one. The process of smoking becomes such a natural part of their lives that if they don't smoke, they may begin experiencing feelings of anxiousness, anger, insomnia, even depression.

If this form of thought is embedded into the mind from the subconscious level, then the individual will no longer think of cigarettes.
