Self Hypnosis: Basic Techniques

In order to apply self hypnosis, it is recommended that you download a self hypnosis audio course relevant to your needs by visiting a recommended website from our Self Hypnosis Courses section. Alternatively, it is recommended you seek the services of a professional hypnotist that is in your area. We have prepared a special section titled Finding a Hypnotherapist to assist you in this task.

If you are unable to do either of the above, then we have prepared a section here that you can use to guide yourself on a very basic form of self hypnosis.

The technique below is for demonstrational purposes only, there is no guarantee it will work. It will not help you overcome any personality vices that you may possess. We recommend a proper course if you wish to overcome specific personality vices.

Applying Self Hypnosis to enter into a state of Relaxation -

To begin, either lay down or stay seated within your chair, whichever you find to be more comfortable and relaxing.

Make sure there are no external noises or people that may interfere with you during this relaxing hypnotic process. The next thirty minutes are yours, and no one elses. Each and every one of these thirty minutes will be used to revitalise your mind and body using the processes of self hypnosis.

You should now be seated within your chair, or laying down, whichever you prefer. I want you to now clear your head of all thoughts, of the days worries, of what you need to do later today, or tomorrow - let all of your thoughts drift from your head so that you're thinking of nothing other than the text you're reading here now.

I want you to begin to be aware of every part of your body. Of your feet, right through to your knees, to your hips, to your arms and up towards your neck and head. Be conscious of every part of your existence.

As you come to realise every part of your body, gently place both of your arms along your legs. Make sure your arms are not folded or crossed in any way. Also ensure that your legs are uncrosed and naturally at rest. Every part of your body should be free from any tension, free to enter into a state of relaxation.

I want you to slowly imagine a warmth extending itself within your feet. Starting at your toes and slowly progressing onto your ankles. Feel the warmth extend itself throughout both of your feet until they are shrouded in this feeling of absolute warmth.

You begin to feel a deep sinking feeling in your feet, a heaviness upon them that won't let you lift them up, even if you try.

You begin to feel the warmth extend now from your feet, up along both of your legs and around your hips, up along your chest and into both of your arms. Your arms now feel entirely at ease and relaxed.

As you focus on both of your hands, you begin to feel a heaviness upon them, a heaviness as if someone placed a thousand heavy blankets on top of them. You're unable to move them, you're unable to even move your mouse now... so deeply relaxed is your entire body - every essence of your being is shrouded in this deep feeling of relaxing warmth.

Silently repeat the following phrase in your head "I feel completely relaxed, nothing is worrying me". Repeat this over and over again as you feel your eyelids now begin to grow heavy. Each time you blink you feel your eyelids growing heavier and heavier, so heavy now that you're unable to read this text any longer, as your eyelids close and you feel yourself... now fully relaxed.

Relax now, and rest, whilst you repeat to yourself, in your mind, "I feel completely relaxed, nothing is worrying me"... keep repeating this, as you drift into a state of relaxing depth.
